Déjàvu! Déjàvu! Déjàvu! Before the pandemic hit the entire world by storm India found itself stuck in a similar conflict between students and the government. Gone are the days when such clashes were actually looked into with serious concern and efforts were made to come to a conclusion. Similar to the aftermath of the last raging student-government clash, this time too government made an attempt to shush these voices using water cannons, tear gas and what not. Though the issues were poles apart, so was the age group of the protesting students. Government definitely proved all are same in their eyes; no one shall be treated differently. The Hijab controversy case of Karnataka has now been taken by the Supreme Court under its jurisdiction under habeas corpus. Till the supreme court gives an official date of hearing , girl students have no other option but to sit at home in protest. The government has perhaps successfully lived up to its slogan – “beti bachao, beti padhao”.
